This West End Avenue cooperative was designed in 1878 by the architect, Ralph S. Townsend, who later designed the Kenilworth on Central Park West and The Metropolitan Tower. Assaf Leib – the renowned designer (who designed the Shabsels residence that hosted one of our last community dinners) has completed the design and remodeling of this UWS unique rounded corner apartment.

The architectural highlights of this property were the bright south and east exposures, the wood-burning fireplace and lovely detail. Leib's transitional style has managed to emphasize these elements by rebuilding the fireplace, reveling an old brick wall and using special built-in light fixtures. Dining around an exquisite walnut table at this residence will most definitely be a remarkable experience for fans of architecture, design and art.

THE ROUMANI-DENN RESIDENCE

Did you know that Libya used to be a home for a thriving Jewish community that continues celebrating its proud heritage?

Our hosts Professor Morton Denn and Vivienne Roumani-Denn have opened their Riverside home to a special evening.
Ms. Roumani-Denn will introduce us to the unique cuisine of the Libyan Jews which has similarities to Tunisian cooking, and reflects Spanish origins. There are also many Italian dishes (undoubtedly influenced by the colonization).

Ms. Roumani-Denn was born to a Jewish family in Libya and she has explored her family and community roots in her fascinating documentary film "The Last Jews of Libya”.

THE YORAN RESIDENCE

Varda Yoran, an accomplished sculptor and her husband Shalom Yoran, the author of the memoir "The Defiant" about his holocaust survival, have generously opened their wonderful Brooklyn house.

This is a brand new all-glass building designed by acclaimed Architect Richard Meier. And the view is amazing as the building stands right on Brooklyn's historical Grand Army Plaza and Prospect Park.

The Piotraut Residence is a contemporary ranch style house, designed and built by the home owners in December 2008. The large high open spaces in the main area create a magnificent overview of the entire space. The large windows opposite the entrance are facing north so as to allow optimal light to get inside as well as maintain the outside/inside dialogue to exist. The house has both a tranquil, pleasant and yet energetic feel to it.
